Twin lake from wrights is a moderately hard hike rated 4 by our staff. The trail head out of writes lake has a large amount of water and a lot of mosquitos in the late summer. I have been on this hike many time and I recommend that you go in the spring. The wild flowers and water shed provide a visually stimulating trip. This hike can be done as a day hike; round trip taking 6 hrs at relaxed pace. The altitude is 7000’ extremely dry in the summer, fires are not allowed so bring a camp stove when spending the night. California German Browns (California Golden Trout) are in this lake and lakes near by. Fish hit best in the late summer in my experience when the insect population is low.

Twin lakes is a spectacular show of nature; high granite walls and domes create a panoramic scene that is hard to beat.
